For over eight decades, the Almi Group has been a successful and reliable partner in the international food industry.

As an Austrian family business, Almi passes great values and experiences from generation to generation – they are the basis of the success that is clearly evident internationally today. Although the Almi Group operates globally, Almi is proud of its roots which is located in the central region of Upper Austria.

Regionality is important to the company as it stands for quality and the fulfillment of individual customer requirements. As an industry pioneer with a high willingness to innovate and invest, Almi not only shapes trends, but is always one step ahead. The developments of the past show that the company is on the right way. For the future, it is an incitement to continuously develop without forgetting about the past.

The Almi Group comprises 29 companies whereas four productions sites produce with the highest quality. With 16 sales companies and international sales partners Almi is exporting worldwide.

Products and services

Specialized in the production of high-quality spice mixtures, additives but also functionalities for convenience products, the Almi Group provides individual solutions with many years of profound know-how.

Quality and regionality are top priorities for Almi. Almi works according to strict criteria both in raw material purchasing as well as in production. Thus guaranteeing consistent product quality. Almi knows exactly the needs of the food industry and adapts the products to each and every request.

Since 2017, the Almi Group produces and sells sports nutrition through its subsidiary Natural Power. With more than 30 years of experience in this area, Natural Power inspires athletes and health-conscious people with innovative products.

Chronicle

1931

The Almi company founded by Alfred Mittermayr as a small shop in the Leonfeldnerstraße in Linz-Urfahr

1949

Almi receives the trade license for “production of seasonings, pickling salts, soup spices and canned raw vegetables“

1972

Construction of business premises in Leonding and transfer of the business to the next generation

1979

Almi opens a large external warehouse with its own printing plant for sausage casings and packaging at Fleischmarkt in Wien-St. Marx

1980

Almi starts exporting to other countries

1982

Alexander Mittermayr joins the company

1989

The export efforts were further intensified. Meanwhile there are customers in 80 countries around the world – on each continent

1994

In cooperation with the company Matimex, Almi begins to conquer the former CIS states

1999

The Almi Academy and the Almi Technical School are opened and first seminars for customers are offered

2004

Alexander Mittermayr becomes shareholder and managing director. Since then he has been managing the company together with his father Heinz Mittermayr

2006

Construction of the new business premises in Oftering. The new building covers 19,500 square meters. In addition, a company headquarters with three floors, a warehouse and a two-storey packaging plant are erected

2011

Additional business expansion and acquisition of the South African company Spicetech

2014

Almi Czech Republic is founded

2015

Acquisition of Matimex Georgia, Matimex Kasachstan and Matimex Ukraine distribution companies

2016

000 Almi Moskau is founded

2017

000 “AlmiBelInternational” is founded in Belarus and Natural Power GmbH becomes part of the Almi Group

2018

Almi Netherlands is founded

2019

Almi China and the technical center in Moscow are founded

2020

Rüther Gewürze GmbH and Bioscience Food Solutions GmbH become part of the Almi Group
